Ever wondered what it takes for a robotics team to defend their championship title for six consecutive years? The PSIS Roboteam is about to find out as they gear up for one of Malaysia’s most prestigious robotics competitions.
PSIS Roboteam Set to Shake Melaka at Malaysia FIRA Championship
On June 20, 2025, from Sabak, the renowned PSIS Roboteam once again answered the call to excellence. This powerhouse squad is sending an impressive delegation of 53 students to compete in the 18th Malaysia FIRA Roboworld Cup, scheduled to take place from June 21-26, 2025, at Politeknik Merlimau, Melaka.
A Strategic Force of Engineering Excellence
The 2025 edition showcases the depth of talent within PSIS, with the 53-strong student contingent carefully assembled from two key departments. Meanwhile, 31 students represent the Department of Electrical Engineering (JKE), while 22 students come from the Department of Information and Communication Technology (JTMK). As a result, this diverse technical background provides the team with a comprehensive skill set across 29 competitive events.
Furthermore, the team’s collaborative spirit extends beyond the institution itself. Four dedicated school students from Sek. Berasrama Penuh Integrasi Sabak Bernam (SBPI) and Sek. Men. Ungku Aziz (SUA) are lending their expertise specifically in the Mybot category, demonstrating the broader educational community’s commitment to robotics education in Malaysia.
Leadership and Guidance at the Helm
The expedition benefits from exceptional institutional support, with PSIS’s top management taking an active role in the championship journey. Director Pn. Haslinda binti Abd Hamid leads this distinguished group, accompanied by key officials including TPA, TPSA, and department heads from both JKE and JTMK, along with dedicated team advisors.
This level of administrative involvement reflects the institution’s serious commitment to maintaining their robotics supremacy. For example, having department heads present ensures that students receive the highest level of technical guidance and strategic support during the competition.
Chasing Historic Sixth Consecutive Victory
What makes this year’s Malaysia FIRA Roboworld Cup particularly significant is PSIS Roboteam’s quest to secure their sixth consecutive championship title. This remarkable winning streak has established them as a dominant force in Malaysian robotics competitions, earning them recognition as true FIRA champions on the international stage.
The pressure to maintain this extraordinary record adds an extra dimension to their preparation and performance expectations. However, with 12 experienced coaches guiding the substantial student delegation, the team appears well-equipped to face this challenge head-on.
The Road Ahead
As the PSIS Roboteam prepares to compete across nearly three dozen events, their comprehensive preparation and institutional backing position them strongly for another successful campaign. The combination of technical expertise from multiple departments, strategic leadership involvement, and their proven track record creates a formidable foundation for continued success.
With their battle cry “THE GREAT PSIS, HOUSE OF FIRA CHAMPIONS!!” echoing through their preparation, this veteran team is ready to defend their crown and potentially extend their historic winning streak. Whether they can maintain their championship dominance will depend on their ability to innovate, adapt, and execute under pressure – qualities that have served them well in their previous five consecutive victories.
