We witness a moment of recognition when academic excellence meets industry opportunity, as a promising engineering student steps into a world where theoretical knowledge transforms into practical expertise.
Engineering UP Student Selected for THAI OBAYASHI SUMMER CAMP 2025
Catalyst
The journey began when Mr. Phuriwat Jaiwangyen’s academic dedication caught the attention of industry leaders. This third-year student from the Bachelor of Engineering Program in Mechanical Engineering at the School of Engineering, University of Phayao, distinguished himself among his peers through exceptional performance and potential.
Recognition came in the form of selection by Thai Obayashi Corporation Limited (Nanthawan Co., Ltd.) for their prestigious THAI OBAYASHI SUMMER CAMP 2025. This competitive program, scheduled for July 16–18, 2025, at the Thai Obayashi Training Center in Phan Thong District, Chonburi Province, represents a gateway between academic study and professional practice.
Rising Action
As the camp unfolded, participants discovered that this wasn’t merely another academic exercise. Instead, the program offered a comprehensive learning experience aimed at raising the standards of construction in Thailand. The curriculum challenged students to think beyond their textbooks and engage with real-world applications.
Throughout the intensive three-day program, Mr. Jaiwangyen and his fellow participants had the opportunity to explore various aspects of engineering professions, including civil, electrical, and mechanical engineering. Each discipline revealed new layers of complexity and interconnection that university coursework alone couldn’t fully capture.
Key topics emerged as building blocks for professional development, covering Safety in Construction, Solar Cell Workshop, Building the Construction Life, and advanced concepts related to Architecture, LEED, WELL, and BIM. These subjects bridged the gap between theoretical knowledge and practical application.
Turning Point
The moment arrived when learning extended beyond the classroom walls.
In addition to the technical training, students participated in a mangrove tree planting activity at the Khlong Tamru Mangrove Conservation and Study Center. This hands-on environmental initiative aligned perfectly with the company’s ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) policy, demonstrating how modern engineering professionals must consider their broader impact on society and the environment.
This activity marked a crucial realization for participants: that engineering excellence encompasses not only technical proficiency but also environmental stewardship and social responsibility. The experience connected sustainable development practices directly to engineering education.
Resolution
As the camp concluded, the impact on Mr. Jaiwangyen became clear. This valuable experience not only broadened the student’s professional perspective but also helped prepare him for real-world engineering practice after graduation. The combination of technical workshops, environmental activism, and industry exposure created a comprehensive foundation for his future career.
The THAI OBAYASHI SUMMER CAMP 2025 successfully achieved its mission of elevating construction standards through education. Participants left equipped with practical knowledge, environmental awareness, and a deeper understanding of their role in shaping Thailand’s built environment.
Looking ahead, programs like the THAI OBAYASHI SUMMER CAMP represent the future of engineering education—where industry partnerships create transformative learning experiences that prepare students not just for careers, but for leadership roles in building a more sustainable and innovative Thailand.
