FSKM UiTM Students Awarded Best Innovation at ASEAN 5G & OT Security Summit 2025

Ever wondered how tomorrow’s cybersecurity breakthroughs are born? Sometimes they emerge from the minds of determined undergraduates who see problems others overlook and dare to build solutions that could reshape entire industries.

FSKM UiTM Students Win Best Innovation Award at ASEAN 5G & OT Security Summit 2025

The regional innovation spotlight has turned firmly toward Malaysia this month. On 17 July 2025, Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM) celebrated a remarkable achievement as four undergraduates from its Faculty of Computer and Mathematical Sciences (FSKM) claimed the coveted Best Innovation Award at the Digital Leap Innovation Pitching 5GOT & iOTx 2025.

Meanwhile, this prestigious competition ran alongside the ASEAN 5G & OT Security Summit 2025 at Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre from 15–17 July, drawing the region’s brightest minds in cybersecurity and emerging technologies.

The Winning Team Behind Clouble Innovation

The victorious quartet—Amir Hazmi bin Mohd Yunos, Amirul Hakim bin Mohd Yusri, Nurul Nadzifah binti Zamzuri, and Nurul Aina Firzanah binti Rosnan—walked away with a well-deserved RM2,000 cash prize. Under the expert guidance of Dr. Fakariah Hani Mohd Ali, these students showcased the kind of forward-thinking approach that’s becoming synonymous with Malaysian tech talent.

Notably, all four team members are active participants in the UiTM Cyberheroes Club, where Dr. Fakariah also serves as club advisor. This connection highlights how extracurricular involvement often amplifies academic learning, creating fertile ground for breakthrough cybersecurity innovations.

Clouble: Revolutionizing Cloud Security Architecture

Their award-winning project, “Clouble: Secure Cloud Storage with Malware Analyzer & AES Encryption,” tackles one of today’s most pressing digital challenges. As a result of combining AES-256 encryption with an integrated malware analyzer, Clouble delivers a dual-layered security approach that proactively protects users before threats can infiltrate their data.

For example, while traditional cloud storage solutions often rely on post-upload scanning, Clouble’s innovation scans for malicious content before files reach the cloud environment. This proactive methodology creates what the team describes as “a smarter, safer, and more resilient cloud environment.”

Technical Excellence Meets Real-World Impact

The sophistication of their solution demonstrates how contemporary cybersecurity requires both technical prowess and strategic thinking. By implementing advanced encryption standards alongside threat detection capabilities, the team addressed two critical vulnerabilities that plague modern cloud infrastructure.

“This innovation not only ensures data confidentiality but proactively scans for threats before files are uploaded, creating a smarter, safer, and more resilient cloud environment.”

Aligning Innovation with Global Sustainability Goals

Beyond technical excellence, the Clouble project strategically aligns with United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, particularly SDG 9 (Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure) and SDG 16 (Peace, Justice and Strong Institutions). This alignment underscores how meaningful innovation extends beyond immediate functionality to address broader societal needs.

Furthermore, this achievement exemplifies UiTM’s commitment to nurturing talent equipped for real-world technological challenges through creativity, technical acumen, and measurable societal impact.

Malaysian Innovation on the Global Stage

This recognition at a regional summit confirms that Malaysian students are ready to compete—and win—against the best talent across Southeast Asia. The success reflects both individual dedication and institutional support that enables students to transform academic knowledge into market-ready solutions.

As cybersecurity threats continue evolving at breakneck speed, innovations like Clouble prove that the next generation of security professionals isn’t waiting for graduation to make their mark. Instead, they’re identifying gaps, building solutions, and earning recognition that positions Malaysia as a serious player in the global technology landscape. Will this inspire more students to pursue cybersecurity innovation? The answer may well determine how quickly we can build the secure digital future we all depend on.
