Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) hosted the Digital Imaging and Communications in Medicine (DICOM) Standards Committee Meeting and DICOM Public Seminar 2025 for the first time, strengthening Malaysia’s expertise in medical imaging and informatics on the global stage.

The two-day discussions focused on developing, validating and improving DICOM standards to ensure compatibility of global medical imaging systems, according to UPM Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic and International) Prof. Ir. Dr. Abd. Rahim Abu Talib.

The meeting was chaired by Fred Behlen from Laitek, United States, with participation from delegates representing major health technology companies including:

  • Canon Medical
  • CIMICS
  • JAHIS
  • NEMA

Local academics and researchers also participated in the international healthcare technology gathering.
